Whilst other wind manufactures have issued serial numbers to their musical instruments in a consecutive chronological fashion, Yamaha appears to have issued their serial numbers in a less logical sequence. This makes dating a Yamaha wind instrument from its serial number a difficult task. Hi SOTW members, Some of you will have seen my Yamaha MODEL Number List. As part of this collection of data, I have created an online database for collecting the SERIAL numbers of Yamaha Saxophones. Even so, its possible from this record to assemble a basic serial number chart for these instruments. Some instruments were stamped H. Selmer and some were not. All were stamped Adolphe Sax 84 Rue Myrha.
